Four years have passed since Carnival Cruise Line broke from its primarily North American ranks and stepped up to the game in Australia, sending Carnival Spirit across the Pacific to be basedyear-round in Sydney, Australia.

In that time, Aussies have adopted the ship as its own, with the brand returning the love by catering to its guests with fine coffee, Australian beers and wines, local power points and a host of other homely elements designed to improve the experience. The investment has paid off, with the mid-size 2,124-passenger vessel now a firm favourite in the local market.

A particularly good move by the ship and Carnival Cruise Line however has been to not make the ship too Aussie, and to retain many of the formats and features employed as standard across its American fleet-mates, such as Guy’s Burger Joint (based on US chef Guy Fieri), the BlueIguana Mexican Cantina and RedFrog Rum Bar. Such a move means travellers can still enjoy a true Carnival experience which hasn’t been completely ‘Aussie-fied’.
