Fourteen songs heard during Princess Cruises’ first Stephen Schwartz-produced theatre musical Magic To Do can be taken home by passengers or downloaded at home after the brand released what it claims is the first original score from a cruise show released on CD.

In partnership with DMI Soundtracks, the song list from the show will be available to purchase onboard Emerald Princess – the only ship in Australia to feature the show from November – as well as on Ruby Princess and Crown Princess, on which it also plays. If you can’t wait until then, it will also be available for digital download and on music streaming services from 09 September.

The original cast recording will be just like what you’ll hear if seeing the show on one of the three aforementioned Princess ships. Magic To Do is essentially a catalogue of Schwartz’ favourite musical numbers from his extensive and distinguished career, covering a variety of shows on which he has worked. The track list is as follows:

Magic To Do celebrates the lifelong fascination with music held by the show’s composer Stephen Schwartz, who over 40 years on Broadway has yielded four Grammy Awards, three ‘Best Song’ Academy Awards and a Tony Award for excellence in stage shows, with credits including WickedGodspell and Pippin. He is also the only composer to have three different Broadway shows run for more than 1,900 performances each.

Princess Cruises’ collaboration with the Broadway composer extends to four shows, with the second – Born to Dance – well underway with development and making its debut on selected shows later this year.
